Getting to Peirce Mill

There are many ways to get to Peirce Mill! Over the last two centuries, people have visited the mill on foot, by horse and carriage, by bicycle, and by automobile. As part of Rock Creek’s Park’s Scenic Driving Day, we’re sharing  historical images of transportation at Peirce Mill. And kids are invited to make their own toy wooden vehicles!

Scenic Driving Day in Rock Creek Park
On Saturday, April 11 from 11:00 to 4:00 pm, Rock Creek Park will open the entire length of Beach Drive to motor vehicles. This scenic driving day allows visitors who prefer to enjoy the park from their cars and those who may be physically unable to hike or bike the area, the opportunity to experience the spring beauty of Rock Creek Park. We recommend hikers and bicyclists plan accordingly. We’ll host two driving days each year, one in spring and one in fall. For more information, visit go.nps.gov/ROCRDrivingDays.
